The wings of faith

UV 387/10,000 The wings of faith Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. We need to wait for the Word of the Lord to be fulfilled. As we wait with faith and patience, we can renew our strength by feeding on the Word. The Word provides a balanced spiritual diet of commands to obey, teachings to understand, warnings to heed and promises to claim. As young eaglets are fed choice morsels by the mother eagle to develop strength and wings, the Holy Spirit feeds us in the early years of our faith life. As our faith matures, our two wings of prayer and Word are strong enough to enable us to fly. As young eaglets are first initiated into the experience of flying by being carried on the eagle’s wings, the Lord will initially carry us. Then, as the eagle would catch the eaglet by the pinion and release it into the air, the Lord tests our faith by different difficult challenges. The eaglets learn to glide in the air and overcome the fear of flying and falling. We also learn to run after the Lord, to run for the Lord and as we run on the feet of Word and prayer, He strengthens our feet. He keeps us from dashing our feet on the stones. He encourages us to keep running and not to give up. He gives us the energy and stamina. We are in a relay race for Him, carrying the baton of the gospel of hope and love from one generation to another. There are times when we have to just wait, times when we have to fly, times when we have to run and times when we have to walk. When we walk too we must not walk only on one leg of prayer but on two legs, one where we remember the Word the Lord has spoken into our lives from time to time and two, where we pray based on the Word. The alternation and synchronization of the simultaneous disciplines of imbibing the Word and prayer in our lives keeps us growing along with the sequencing of times of waiting, walking, running and flying keeps us from getting tired and discouraged, prevents us from being unfruitful and keeps us from loosing our balance and sense of direction and vision.
