Greater works than Jesus

UV 400/10,000 Greater works than Jesus –John 14 v 12 Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. We believe Jesus is the Son of God who reveals the fullness of the Father in His own words and deeds. Jesus said , “ Believe in me either because of my words or my works.” No man that has ever lived has spoken greater truths in words or done greater deeds culminating in the greatest non verbal expression of love- the act of dying on the cross and resurrecting from the dead. Belief in Him is the driving force of our lives. Other great men would feel threatened if their followers did or claimed to do greater works than they themselves. But, the sense of security of Jesus and His knowledge of His position were so absolute that He made this tremendous promise to those who believed in Him and His words or His works that they will do greater works than Jesus Himself. What are the works He did? He called the dead back to life, He gave sight to the blind, He caused the lame to walk, the deaf to hear, the dumb to talk, the sick to be healed, cast out demons. He also walked on water. He has promised that we as believers would be able to do these things and greater things than these. What are these greater works? It could be a surprise and an unique event in each of our testimonial lives. Jesus gives this power to us to do greater things so that we would be His representatives on earth. He gives this power as He has gone to the Father’s side. We enjoy a viceregal status in the Kingdom of God upon earth. We declare in faith and proclaim victory over sin, death, disease on His behalf and He causes it to happen. That is why Jesus said that the church is His “ better half.” Accordingly, the apostles did greater things : like people getting healed as their shadow fell upon them, people getting healed with their aprons and handkerchiefs. We should not shy from doing the works of Jesus and also expect to do greater things than even Jesus. We can’t do anything without Him. We can do all things with Him. Prateep V Philip
