Revealer of Mysteries

UV 607/10,000 Revealer of Mysteries “ The king said to Daniel, “ Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.” Daniel 2 v 47 King Nebuchadnezzar glorified the Lord God in these words once God revealed the dream as well as its interpretation to His servant Daniel. The Lord communicates through dreams to leaders and people in position and power. But the mystery will be hidden from them and their trusted advisors but revealed to His servants who fear and serve Him. The impartation of the dream was God’s way of having his servants honoured as well as to communicate the significant events that were slated to happen in history. He revels in revealing mysteries as He alone can. God chose to reveal the mystery of the dream that He gave Nebuchadnezzar to Daniel as the latter humbled himself before God and sought wisdom and understanding. Daniel and his three friends Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego fasted and prayed. They pleaded for mercy as they too faced the threat of being put to death if no one was able to tell the dream and interpret it. The Lord revealed the dream to Daniel in a vision: the glorious statue made of different metals but whose feet alone were made partly of iron and partly of clay. A rock not cut by human hands struck the statue on its feet of clay and iron and the whole statue fell to pieces. That rock which struck the statue became in time a huge mountain and filled the whole earth. It was not revealed even to Daniel that the rock not cut by human hands is the Messiah Jesus. His glory shall fill the whole earth. All attempts for glory by individual kings, dynasties and empire will end in naught. They might look powerful for a time but are bound to perish. They are unstable and rest on brittle feet of clay. But the Kingdom of God will endure forever with a solid rock foundation. People will realize that wisdom and power belong to the Lord. He sets up rulers and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise or God-fearing and knowledge or insight to the discerning. He knows what lies in darkness and reveals deep and hidden things that are yet to happen. Daniel acknowledge Him as the God of His fathers. He asked Him to reveal the mystery as he had faith that God is all knowing and able to do that which He asked. Similarly, in these perplexing times, we too should humble ourselves and ask the Lord to reveal the mysteries and secrets of our times. He will do so to honour our faith and to lift us up in the eyes of our contemporaries. Prateep V Philip
