The Upper Teeth and Lower Teeth

UV 1079/10,000 The Upper and Lower Teeth

Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff

Isaiah 41 v 15

Faith is the first prerequisite for the Lord to make and use us as an instrument for His purpose. We need to believe this uni-verse and claim it for ourselves that the Lord make us an instrument, a “ new sharp threshing instrument having teeth”. The upper cutting teeth that the Lord gives us are the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self control. As we increase in agape or godly love, we will be willing to serve others and we become an instrument of service. As we increase in joy, we will be stronger in the Lord and praise Him for the victory even before our senses perceive it. We will have peace and patience as we pass through the process of affliction. The lower cutting teeth that the Lord gives us are the gifts of the Spirit: word of wisdom or counsel, word of knowledge, faith, healing power, miraculous power, prophetic gift, tongues and their interpretation, administration gift. I deliberately call the gifts the lower set of teeth as the fruit of character of God should predominate over the gifts of God. We should be more eager for the manifestation of the fruit over the manifestation of the gifts. We will be a new instrument that is sharp and effective to achieve the purpose it is meant for. However big a problem is, we can figuratively speaking take it into our mouths and chew them with our spiritual teeth into tiny bits that can be easily swallowed, ingested, digested and excreted. We will be a threshing instrument implying that we will be used to remove the inedible or useless chaff that covers the grain or seed, to remove the barriers to being blessed. If we cut a tree with a dull blade, it is so tedious, tiresome and painful. People living life without knowing God, without a vibrant faith in the Lord and His promises are like attempting to cut a huge tree with a dull blade.

The enemy of our soul thrashes us while the Lord threshes us. He allows trials and tribulations to purify us, to separate the chaff from the grain. The enemy uses trials and troubles to depress us, to weaken our faith, to steal our peace and eventually if he could our souls. A sister shared how she had given this verse to a high ranking official who was not able to get her promotion. The latter claimed this verse and asked the Lord to make her a threshing machine to remove the obstacles. Miraculously in three days, the obstacles were removed and she received her order of promotion.

Problems are allowed by the Lord so that we would look upward to Him for heavenly aid and resources. Once we look up to Him, He will point out to us that the kingdom power lies right within us to resolve it effectively by faithful prayer claiming the apt promise of God contained in His Word. As our faith is built up in this manner, each of us become powerful spiritual weapons in the hands of the Lord not only to thresh the small grains or smaller issues of life but to thresh huge mountains that affect whole nations and communities so that these huge challenges are either made manageable or are reduced in dimensions and impact. We will be used to reduce the hills or problems of lesser dimensions, scale and impact as if they did not even exist. Instead of making a mountain of a mole which is our natural wont, we will be powerful and effective instruments to turn the mountain into a mole. By the sheer wisdom of an eternal perspective the greatest of problems will appear to be such a wisp of an issue that though we cannot wish it away can be blown away by the power of faithful and knowledgeable prayer. Knowledgeable prayer implies knowing the apt verse or portion of scripture that should be applied to a specific problem, issue or situation in life.
