Spiritual Battles

UV 2044/10000 Spiritual Battles
Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

2 Chronicles 20 v 17

All of us wage different types of battles in different domains all through our lives. Whatever type of battle it is, the battle truly belongs to the Lord. It is for Him to fight on our behalf and ordain or secure victory for us. We only need to take battle positions in stillness and on knees of prayer. We shall surely see the salvation of the Lord, His amazing and awesome power at work in our midst. We need to continually offer praises and thanksgiving in anticipation of the victory. Like Hezekiah the king we should just turn to the wall- Jesus and pray. He is the wall of our defence, the wall of strength and power, the wall of victory.

We need to believe the Lord is both faithful to us and He is invincible. Once we know this, we will not fear regardless of the type of the battle or the size and prowess of the enemy. We should not feel disappointed with every temporary or seeming reverse, knowing that our faith is being tested. We only need to wait with hope and quiet confidence in the Lord and He will surely act in time and effectively. He is our shield and fortress. But the opponent’s defence shall fail him. The Lord will disarm the array of principalities and powers against us. He will cause them to be powerless to attack or harm us.

The Lord is never short of strength or resources to defeat any force against us. Our first and last resort is prayer and praise. These are not the weapons of the weak as some think but they invite the presence and the power of the Lord in our battle-like situation. We need not panic at the odds against us for the greater the odds against, the more is the power and glory of the Lord manifested. We need to however always don our spiritual armour covering ourselves from head to foot. Every day in our lives involves a certain kind of battle. We sorely need the continual presence of the Lord to ensure victory consistently.
